Job Summary
Monitor, interpret, and document sterilizer results for physical, chemical, and biological indicators. Follow established protocols for cleaning, decontaminating, preparing, and sterilizing surgical supplies while adhering to safety procedures and manufacturer instructions. Inventory, receive, and restock materials, then distribute supplies to facility areas as needed. Provide accurate hand-off reports to teammates and participate in daily safety huddles, quality reviews, and performance improvement projects. Act as a patient advocate, maintain confidentiality, and comply with all regulatory standards and accreditation guidelines. This part-time role supports the Sterile Processing Department at a Multi-Specialty Surgery Center within SCA Health's network of ambulatory surgical centers.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Understanding of sterilization and high-level disinfection technologies including industry standardized principles and practice in sterilization and disinfection required.
- Successful completion of BCLS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BCLS certification.
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in instrument processing preferred.
- Prior experience as a surgical technologist/procedure technologist preferred.
- Certification in instrument processing is preferred.
