Job Summary
Operate autoclave units daily by inspecting for malfunctions, running biological and chemical tests, and ensuring proper function before use. Assemble, package, and process surgical instruments and patient care equipment according to AMMI and HealthAlliance guidelines while applying aseptic techniques. Accurately check, post, count, and identify numerous pieces of surgical instruments and equipment. Perform general cleaning of department surfaces, racks, shelves, and storage areas, then restock supply carts on nursing units. Take call as required on weekends and holidays. Maintain reliable attendance and comply with all health and safety regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of sterilization standards and procedures and Central Service related medical terminology
- Ability to adequately use or learn to use the department's computerized system and its associated devices
- Must be able to lift, carrying, pulling, pushing 0-20 pounds
- Must be able to lift, carrying, pulling, pushing 20-50 pounds
- Must be able to stand, walking, reaching, grasping, repetitive movements
- Must have precise motor skills
- Must have hearing, vision
- Must be able to twist, balancing, bending, kneeling
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
- Prior experience in a sterile processing department
