Job Summary
Instrument Operator/Survey Assistant contract-to-hire role supporting field surveying projects. Assist the Crew Chief in operating a field survey crew, ensure quality and regulatory compliance, maintain equipment, and collect accurate field data. Responsibilities include operating survey equipment (total stations, GPS), recording precise surveying notes, accurately recording data points with a data collector, setting wooden stakes and iron rods, clearing brush as needed, and upholding Safety, Quality Management, and Equipment Maintenance policies. Requires mobility across construction sites, ability to carry survey equipment and supplies, and capability to lift 50 pounds. Travel is a key aspect (3-4 weeks minimum at a time) with generous per diem, and the position offers growth opportunities within a contract-to-hire arrangement.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Three (3) to four (4) years of progressive experience in land survey field operations, with proficiency in land survey equipment (total stations) and GPS
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving history
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physically demanding fieldwork
