Job Summary
Instrument Operator responsible for operating and maintaining survey equipment under Party Chief guidance; duties include assisting with daily operations, loading and securing equipment, field data collection and notes, equipment maintenance, and mentoring junior team members. Required skills include strong verbal/written communication, at least 1 year as a Rod person, land navigation and map reading, ability to work solo or in a small team, and physical endurance to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather. Preferred: AutoCAD experience, Carlson plugin, FAA Part 107 certification, and familiarity with Leica robotic total station and GNSS. Location: Bryan, TX; full-time employment with no H-1B sponsorship. Equal opportunity employer. Primary responsibilities include assisting Party Chief, operating surveying instruments (Static GPS, RTK, GPS, total station, data collectors, levels), ensuring equipment is in proper working order, maintaining and securing equipment, supervising loading of equipment, training new team members, reviewing drawings, and preparing field notes.
Required Qualifications
- Verbal and written communication skills
- At least 1 year experience as a Rod person
- Attention to detail
- Land navigation and map reading competency
- Willing to work alone and/or part of a small team
- Physical fitness and dexterity including the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, cross fences when gates are unavailable, and stand or walk long periods - working outdoors in varying weather condition in varying terrain
