Job Summary
Instrument Mechanic capable of installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems (including PLC/DCS, transmitters, control valves, sensors, and related instrumentation) in an industrial plant. Responsibilities include instrument calibrations, preventive maintenance, updating documentation, interfacing with manufacturers and technical support, supporting 24/7 plant operations, handling work orders, reading schematics and P&ID diagrams, and performing physical tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, confined spaces) with overtime as needed. Requires an Associate's Degree in Instrumentation or 2 years of relevant experience; strong problem solving, PLC/DCS knowledge, instrumentation design/repair techniques, and ability to work both independently and in a multi-functional team.
Required Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Instrumentation OR 2 years of experience in Instrumentation and Controls installation, troubleshooting, and repair in a Chemical Plant, Refinery, or similar Industrial environment
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Working knowledge of PLCs, DCS, etc.
- Knowledge of instrumentation design, selection, repair techniques and performance assessment
- Well-rounded field experience applying good engineering practices to instrumentation repair work for a variety of typical process plant equipment
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented individual with proven success working independently and in a multi-functional team environment
