Job Summary
Coordinate instrument management including purchasing, inventory management up to 3M instruments, repair and maintenance tracking, and collaboration with CS and Perioperative teams. Manage budget adherence and propose budget modifications for inventory needs. Oversee instrument and device purchasing, maintenance, and repair tracking; ensure instrument sets are rotated for inspection and refurbishment; develop and communicate work instructions; maintain instrument tracking system; provide on-site support to facilities with a focus on cost savings and ensuring surgical tools function properly; collaborate with System Executives, OR team, Perioperative team, and SPD manager on updates to count sheets, tray configurations, and inventory lists; train required staff on system functionality and usage; maintain data accuracy in the instrument management system.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Associate’s degree from an accredited two-year college or technical school preferred
- Minimum of three years experience working with surgical instruments/devices and/or as SPD/SCPD technician required
- CRCST/CSPDT, or CST certification is required OR CER/CFER if dedicated assignment in Endo processing
- Must maintain certification by completing 12 Continuing Education Credit Hours annual
- Must have working knowledge of computer programs; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and exposure to instrument tracking software
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand medical terminology to follow written instructions and complete various forms and records regarding equipment processing and preparation of equipment
- Excellent organization and problem-solving skills; ability to multi-task
