Job Summary

Plan and prepare instructional materials for courses covering livestock systems, crop production, plant nutrition, and environmental science. Instruct and evaluate students while integrating technology and active learning techniques into teaching practices. Establish a positive learning environment and build professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders. Demonstrate expertise in scouting protocols, field sampling, pesticide application, and nutrient management planning. Report to the Academic Chair within the School of Engineering Technologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., Agriculture, Agronomy, Animal Science, Environmental Science, or Plant/Soil Science)
  • recent and relevant industry work experience
  • strong applied background in one or more of the following areas: livestock nutrition and production systems; plant and field crop production systems; plant nutrition and soil fertility; pesticide application and integrated pest management; and/or environmental science as it relates to agriculture
  • Demonstrated experience working in agricultural or agri-service settings
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with industry practices such as scouting protocols, field sampling techniques, safe pesticide handling and application, equipment calibration, and interpreting agronomic or environmental data
  • Experience working, supervising and mentoring others in an agricultural setting
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Pesticide Applicator License, nutrient management planning credentials)
  • Experience in precision agriculture tools, data collection, and applied research or field trials
  • A combination of crop and livestock systems experience, reflecting a broad understanding of modern agricultural production
  • Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and innovative thinking
  • Self-motivated, service and results oriented
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team
  • A desire for continuous learning and growth
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Minimum of five years of related and recent work experience
  • Experience working in a post-secondary environment
