Job Summary
Part-time instructor teaches undergraduate courses in Animation (Animation Production, Illustration, Game Art/Design, Visual Effects) and/or Foundations (2D, 3D, 4D, or Drawing) and/or other courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. Duties include teaching between one and three courses, course development support, pedagogical mentoring, regular communication with students, timely assessments, posting course information on Canvas, and submitting grades on time. Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree (or two years of related industry experience); preferred qualifications include an MFA and one year of college teaching experience. Responsibilities also include mentoring students, developing course materials, and managing course-related documentation. The opportunity is at Ball State University, located in Muncie, Indiana, with online and in-person modalities and a commitment to accessible, equitable education.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in animation, illustration, game art/design, visual effects, or a related field from an accredited institution by time of appointment OR two years of documented industry experience in animation, illustration, game design, visual effects, or a related field. Prefer MFA. One year of teaching experience at the college level is preferred.
