Job Summary
Medical Careers Academy Instructor at Upper Valley Career Center to teach high school students. Responsible for delivering engaging instruction aligned to state and industry standards, providing clinical training to help students earn healthcare certifications, supervising clinical rotations, collaborating with co-teachers to develop lessons, maintaining student records and confidentiality, and fostering a positive learning environment. Requires teaching licensure in Ohio, 5+ years healthcare experience, nursing license, and certification options (NHA-CCMA or AAMA-CMA) with potential for associate degree or higher; includes working with industry professionals and upholding professional conduct. Salary range provided; 187-day contract with full-time hours and benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Must complete all requirements for teacher education and licensure
- Minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in the healthcare field
- Holds a current, unrestricted Ohio license to practice nursing
- An associate's degree or higher in the related field is preferred
- Holds a Medical Assisting certification (NHA-CCMA or AAMA-CMA) or can acquire
- Experience in a medical office setting is preferred
- Has a strong desire to work with and develop students
- Ability to actively manage a classroom/lab and monitor student behavior
- Ability to work with a teaching partner to develop lessons and provide instruction
- Establishes and maintains professional relationships with students, peers, families, and industry professionals
- Possesses excellent social skills and serves as a role model to students
- Has strong oral and written communication and classroom management skills
- Displays effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills
- Meets the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educator qualifications
- Meets all mandated health screening requirements
- Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. Able to successfully pass a BCI/FBI background check
- Maintains compliance with drug-free workplace rules, Board policies, and other applicable procedures/guidelines
