Job Summary
Part-time Instructor for FREN 3P03 Fall D2 at Brock University. Duties include scheduled contact time with students, preparation of lectures and seminars, student consultation, grading and marking, and course administration including grade appeals and addressing academic dishonesty. The successful candidate will work closely with the BUFA course coordinator in multi-section courses or with the Director of French Studies for single-section courses. Qualifications require a Graduate Degree (PhD or equivalent) in French studies, native or near-native fluency in English and French, ability to use Standard International French, and demonstrated teaching competence in university-level language and stylistics courses with supporting teaching materials and evaluations. Proficiency with web-based pedagogical techniques and tools (including Brightspace), ability to manage online activities, and availability for office hours and exam proctoring. The role involves on-campus teaching with a focus on high-quality course delivery and collaboration within the department; additional duties include test development, marking, and course administration per the Collective Agreement. Required Qualifications
- Graduate Degree (PhD, PhD abd) in an area of French studies with a record of sustained successful teaching of upper-level language courses in French at University level
- Native or near native fluency in English and French
- Commitment to and competence in the use of Standard International French
- Teaching documentation: evidence of teaching competence in language and stylistics courses in French at University level; official student and peer evaluations; teaching dossier; references
- Ability to work alone without immediate direct supervision
- Responsibility for careful test, mid-term and final exam preparation; development of online activities; student assessment; prompt and accurate marking
- Commitment to incorporation of web-based pedagogical techniques, materials and resources (including textbook instructional platform, etc.) in the teaching of the course
- Competence in the use of email, Brightspace, internet, common office software (Word, Excel) and multimedia equipment
- Commitment to time management (course structuring, punctuality for lectures)
- Availability for individual consultation with students (office hours) and proctoring exams
