Job Summary
Teach second-year French language courses (FREN 2F03) at Brock University in face-to-face sections, including delivering lectures, conducting seminars, preparing lectures, student consultations, and grading. Collaborate with BUFA course coordinator for multi-section courses or with the Director of French Studies for single-section courses. Responsibilities include curriculum development participation, test preparation, and online activities; manage course administration and grade appeals, with office hours (1.5 hours per section per week) and proctoring exams. Requires a Graduate Degree (PhD or ABD) in French studies, native or near-native English and French, strong management of instructional technology (e.g., Brightspace, multiple software tools), and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate Degree (PhD, PhD abd) in an area of French studies
- native or near native fluency in English and French
- commitment to and competence in Standard International French
- teaching documentation demonstrating ability to teach second-year language courses at University level
- ability to work independently and within a team
- participation in curriculum development
- experience with web-based pedagogical techniques and tools (Brightspace, email, internet, common office software)
- availability for student consultations and proctoring exams
