Job Summary
Instruct second-year French language courses (FREN 2F00) at Brock University, including lecture and lab components, with responsibilities spanning preparation, student consultations, grading and exam administration. Collaborate with BUFA course coordinators on multi-section courses or with the Director of French Studies for single-section courses. Maintain engagement with online teaching tools ( Brightspace, email, common software) and implement web-based pedagogical resources. Uphold academic integrity and participate in required committee marking, test preparation, and timely assessment. Courses follow university collective agreements and enrolment-driven adjustments; on-campus delivery with potential for flexible work arrangements as described in policy.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate Degree (PhD, PhD abd) in an area of French studies with a record of sustained successful teaching of second-year language courses in French at a University level
- Native or near native fluency in English and French
- Commitment to and competence in the use of Standard International French
- Teaching documentation: evidence of teaching competence in second-year language courses in French at University level; official student and peer evaluations; teaching dossier; references
- Ability to work alone without immediate direct supervision; Ability to work within a team; active participation in curriculum development; sharing of responsibilities in careful test preparation; student assessment; prompt and accurate marking
- Commitment to participate in required committee marking including online activities, mid-term and final exams
- Commitment to incorporating web-based pedagogical techniques, materials and resources in the teaching of the course; competence in the use of email, Brightspace, internet, common office software and multi-media equipment
- Commitment to responsible time management (course structuring, punctuality for lectures)
- Availability for individual consultation with students (office hours) and proctoring exams
Desired Qualifications
