Job Summary
Part-time instructor for FREN 1F90 (French III) with face-to-face delivery in St. Catharines. Responsibilities include scheduled contact time with students, preps, student consultations, marking and grading, course administration (grade appeals, academic dishonesty), and collaboration with BUFA course coordinator and Director of French Studies for multi-section/single-section courses. Requires Graduate Degree in French studies, native or near-native fluency in English and French, experience teaching second-year university French, ability to work independently and in teams, and proficiency with email, Brightspace, common office software, and multimedia tools. Emphasis on incorporating web-based pedagogical techniques and participation in curriculum development; office hours (1.5 hours per section per week) and proctoring exams; on-campus obligations with flexible arrangements where possible. Required Qualifications
- 1. Graduate Degree (PhD, PhD abd) in an area of French studies with a record of sustained successful teaching of second-year language courses in French at a University level.
- 2. Native or near native fluency in English and French. Commitment to and competence in the use of Standard International French.
- 3. Teaching documentation: evidence of teaching competence in second-year language courses in French at University level; official student and peer evaluations; teaching dossier; references.
- 4. Ability to work alone without immediate direct supervision; ability to work within a team; clear comprehension of multi-section teaching; active participation in curriculum development; sharing of responsibilities in careful test preparation; student assessment; prompt and accurate marking.
