Job Summary
Instructor position for Dance/Theatre (DART 2P51 Fall) at Brock University. Responsibilities include delivering a half-course lab (5 hours/week) on script-based performance through monologue and scene studies in contemporary realism, including preparation, student consultation, and grading within the Collective Agreement framework. Duties align with Article 22.01 and include classroom and non-classroom time such as lectures, assessment, grade appeals, and course administration. Candidates must have advanced training (PhD or MFA) in acting/directing, proven post-secondary teaching experience, and demonstrated commitment to anti-oppressive and inclusive theatre pedagogy; proficiency with BRIGHTSPACE, BrockDB, and OASIS is preferred. Required Qualifications
- PhD or MFA in acting or directing for theatre, or a relevant, related discipline and training in recognized approaches to scene study and impulse work
- Significant professional and/or scholarly contributions to acting or directing for theatre or a relevant, related discipline
- Successful, relevant, theoretically-informed post-secondary teaching experience
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness via teaching dossier; course evaluations, peer evaluations, letters of recommendation, or equivalent evidence considered
- Expertise in anti-oppressive, decolonizing, anti-racist, anti-supremacist, or related approaches to theatre making, pedagogy, and/or theatrical practices; demonstrated integration into teaching
- Demonstrated ability to use BRIGHTSPACE online learning management system, BrockDB, OASIS or equivalents
