Job Summary
Provide instruction to students under the direction of a teacher, working with individuals or small groups. Assist in preparing instructional materials, classroom displays, and administrative records while helping maintain a neat and orderly classroom. Supervise students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty, and make teachers aware of special needs or problems. Administer and score objective testing instruments, maintain equipment inventory, and provide orientation to substitute teachers. Participate in staff development training, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned. Requires a valid Texas education aide certificate, associate's degree, and ability to work with children.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Para Professional Certification or Associate's degree, two years of study at an institution of higher learning or have met formal academic assessment as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
- Valid Texas education aide certificate
- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Some experience working with children
