Job Summary
Lead the ISD Team and serve as the primary point of contact for all instructional design activities at the USAFA. Convert government outcomes into executable courseware, unit plans, and remediation pathways while conducting analytical reviews of Programs of Instruction, lesson materials, and training schedules. Connect objectives to resource requirements and assess training needs to determine necessary facilities, equipment, staffing, and safety resources. Develop resource profiles for recurring scenarios and embed assessment instruments within Instructional Unit Plans. Use data to inform courseware updates, scenario refinements, and annual program recommendations. Provide design and digital workflow support via local presence, remote engagement, or travel as mission needs dictate. Requires a SECRET clearance and 8+ years of ISD leadership experience.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years experience as an ISD lead and/or curriculum manager
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Education, Training, Instructional Technologies, or a related field
- Ability to lead courseware review, POI/lesson plan/scenario development, objective-to-resource alignment, facilitator guides, rubrics integration, and annual curriculum improvement
- Experience developing and overseeing curriculum, lesson plans, Programs of Instruction (POIs), and assessment frameworks
- Experience supporting program evaluation, After Action Reviews (AARs), and data-driven improvement initiatives
- Experience using the ADDIE methodology for instructional design
- Must be able to obtain a SECRET security clearance
- Some travel will be required
