Instructional System Design & eLearning Specialist

Job Summary

Design, develop, and deploy mission-critical training solutions for NASA's Flight Operations Directorate using ADDIE principles and modern authoring tools like Articulate 360 and Adobe Creative Suite. Partner with subject matter experts, flight controllers, and video teams to translate complex technical requirements into interactive eLearning, web-based modules, and classroom materials for astronauts and ground control teams. Manage training initiatives from inception to delivery, establishing timelines, tracking milestones, and ensuring rigorous quality standards while maintaining structured data platforms and internal knowledge bases. Support train-the-trainer initiatives and adapt heritage ISS modules for evolving Artemis and lunar base programs. Occasionally support work outside standard business hours to meet critical mission surge requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or a related field
  • 4+ years of direct experience developing technical training/eLearning solutions
  • A digital portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ISD deliverables, eLearning interactions, and multimedia work
  • Proven proficiency with authoring tools (Articulate Storyline/Rise, Camtasia) and multimedia editing tools (Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Demonstrated expertise applying the ADDIE model, storyboarding, and scriptwriting within technical environments
  • Track record of managing training projects, scheduling, milestone tracking, and stakeholder communication
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to consult effectively with highly technical subject matter experts and navigate fast-paced deadlines
  • Ability to occasionally support work outside standard business hours to meet critical mission surge requirements
  • Ability to lift, move, and position training hardware, media equipment, and AV/studio gear weighing up to 25 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to navigate training facilities, classroom environments, and simulation spaces to support live instruction and equipment setup

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting flight operations, aerospace systems, or technical/high-consequence training environments
  • Working knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and experience maintaining structured data platforms (SharePoint Online, Wikis)
  • Experience with DACUM or formal workforce task analysis methodologies
