Instructional Support Specialist (Teacher)

Job Summary
Deliver teacher-directed, evidence-based reading intervention activities to individual students and small groups receiving Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports. Administer literacy screening, progress-monitoring, and intervention assessments under the direction of licensed staff while maintaining accurate records of student participation and data to inform instructional decisions. Collaborate with reading specialists, classroom teachers, and administrators to implement the district's Integrated Multi-Tiered System of Supports (iMTSS) and prepare instructional materials for literacy groups. Foster positive relationships that encourage student confidence and create a safe, supportive learning environment for students identified for comprehensive support and improvement. This one-year, grant-funded position focuses on accelerating reading achievement for underserved populations through supplemental instructional support.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education (defined as 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours verified by college transcripts from an accredited institution of higher education); or an Associate's Degree or higher in a related field.
- Knowledge of and the ability to assist with struggling readers and students from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to support students in reading.
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher.
- Experience working in elementary literacy programs or reading intervention settings.
- Knowledge of structured literacy practices and the Science of Reading.
- Experience collecting and maintaining student progress-monitoring data.
- Experience supporting intervention programs such as UFLI, Orton-Gillingham-based instruction, or other evidence-based literacy interventions.
