Job Summary
Conduct individual and group assessments in students' native languages or English, including WIDA Screener and ACCESS tests. Support comprehension and transition into an English-speaking environment for ELL students by reinforcing skills in the target language and implementing lesson plans under supervision. Prepare instructional aids, manage technology, and maintain accurate recordkeeping for student progress while monitoring behavior in cafeteria and campus locations. Interpret communications for bilingual parents at conferences and Open House events. Demonstrate respect for individual student cultures and interests.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a ParaPro Assessment Test or completion of 48 or more semester hours at an accredited institution of higher education.
- Bilingual/biliterate in a minimum of one target language such as Spanish, French, Creole, Portuguese, or other language as needs.
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
- Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers and applications.
- Ability to demonstrate written and verbal linguistic skills in English and in a minimum of one target language (Spanish, French, Creole, Portuguese, or other language as needed.)
- Ability to interpret and translate classroom assignment, parent communications, and other school related activities.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree from an accredited institution.
- One year experience working with children as a paraprofessional in a public school district.
