Job Summary
Support and collaborate with general and special education teachers to implement accommodations, reinforce lessons, and manage classroom supervision. Assist students with academic support, behavior interventions, independent study, and community-based experiences while ensuring safety. Prepare instructional materials, operate assistive technology, and cover classrooms during teacher absences. Read student IEPs, engage in professional development, and attend district training. This role requires physical capability for lifting and restraint, with a 185-day school-year schedule following the district calendar. Salary is determined by the Tier 3 collective bargaining agreement. Bilingual candidates and those with diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Forty-eight (48) Credit Hours of College Coursework or an Associate's Degree, or a passing score on one of the two following Formalized Standardized Assessments: ParaPro Assessment or WorkKeys
- Safety-Care Trained or willing to be trained
- Minimum of one year experience working with elementary-aged children
- Current authorization to work in the United States
- Must be physically capable of and willing to engage in restraint, bending, and lifting as required to meet unique student needs
- Must be available for a 185 day school year (180 student contact days plus 5 professional development days)
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs

- Experience guiding independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work
- Experience escorting and assisting students throughout the building and on community-based experiences
- Experience covering classroom during teacher absence
- Experience facilitating play and social interactions
- Experience modeling language between peers
- Experience assisting with acclimating students to technology and personal learning devices
- Experience attending district and building professional development and training
