Job Summary
Assist teachers in preparing educational materials and reinforce learning objectives through individual or small group work. Manage daily routines by distributing supplies, tracking attendance, grading quizzes, and overseeing lunchroom, recess, and bus duties. Support classroom instruction by maintaining bulletin boards and learning centers. Monitor library usage, assist students with media and technology resources, and manage inventory, displays, and circulation using Destiny Library Manager Software. Generate reports on overdue materials and fines while directing student assistants as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must pass the GACE para assessment
- 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of a grade of C or better
- Associate's Degree or higher at a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution
- Must be able to obtain Georgia PSC Paraprofessional Certificate
- 0-1 year experience
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions quickly and accurately
- Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Must be able to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance
- Must be able to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds
- Ability to lift, bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping or crouching
- Ability to move and control an adult-sized wheelchair
Desired Qualifications
- Classroom experience
- Proven ability to work with children
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal both with students and adults
- Excellent organizational skills and flexibility
- Technology proficiency (computers, AV, office equipment, etc)
- Library organization and filing procedure knowledge (ability to alphabetize to three letters and order numerically to the ten-thousandths place)
- Proficiency in spoken and written language of instruction (Dual Immersion program)
