Job Summary
Work directly with students under teacher guidance to facilitate active involvement in educational activities. Provide coaching and modeling to support student learning in various content areas, including math, science, English, social studies, and electives. Ensure student safety and confidentiality; collaborate with the teacher and related services providers to plan and implement activities and resources. Adapt to individual student needs, support in individual/small/group/work in school and community settings, and assist with routine classroom tasks, supervision during non-instructional activities, and data collection/assessment of progress. Maintain dignity and respect for each student, uphold professional standards, and report to work reliably. The role is based at Christina Early Education Center in Newark, DE, within Christina School District; it involves direct student support and coordination with instructional staff to promote an inclusive educational environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school transcript or equivalency
- Associate degree or higher with GPA 2.0+
- Sixty college credits
- ParaPro Test score 459+
- Strong communication skills in English
- Strong communication skills in a second language (if required by assignment)
- Experience with children in varied settings (preferred)
- Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint (preferred)
- Knowledge of accommodations for special education students (preferred)
- Ability to stand for minimum 4 hours per workday
- Report to work on time
- Follow district and building procedures
- Maintain professional attitude and appearance
- Criminal Background Report and Child Abuse Registry check
