Job Summary
Under the direction of a licensed staff member, assist students by helping individuals or small groups with basic curriculum work, implementing programming, reinforcing learning skills and discipline procedures. Assist classroom teacher by preparing classroom materials, monitoring students and evaluating/recording student achievement. May include work with behaviorally challenging children; duties include preparing materials, assisting with tests/attendance, supervising activities, and supporting field trips or drills.
Required Qualifications
- High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting required
- No professional work experience required
- Two years of higher education or associate degree or demonstrated knowledge in required reading/writing/mathematics readiness and related areas
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to work one-on-one and in small groups with students
- Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
- Physical ability for light work up to 25 pounds
- Work indoors and outdoors
- Desire to support classroom teacher and school goals
