Job Summary
The Instructional Leader for the IB MYP Personal Project provides leadership for planning, coordination, and implementation of the Personal Project within the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme at St. Margaret’s School. Responsibilities include leading the Personal Project process, guiding students and supervisors through planning, development, and reflection, ensuring alignment with IB requirements and assessment expectations, coordinating supervisor assignments and monitoring, providing guidance on academic honesty and reporting, communicating expectations to students, staff and families, supporting staff with resources and coaching, monitoring progress and addressing barriers, coordinating submission, assessment, and showcase of Personal Projects, and reviewing and strengthening the process through feedback and continuous improvement. In addition, the Instructional Leader supports colleagues in developing high-quality programming, contributes to new initiatives, models effective design and implementation of learning targets and plans, collaborates to create opportunities for enrichment and academic rigor, facilitates professional learning communities, participates in Curriculum Team meetings, promotes a positive school culture, and demonstrates a commitment to equity and student-centered learning. Requirements include current BC Teacher Certification, understanding of adolescent development and mental health, experience in instructional leadership or program coordination, a track record of leading professional development, and a growth mindset with confidentiality and integrity.
Required Qualifications
- Current and valid Teacher Certification through the Teacher Regulation Branch (BC)
- Strong understanding of adolescent development, mental health, and executive functioning (required)
- Experience in instructional leadership, coaching, or program coordination
- Proven ability to lead professional development and collaborate across teams
- Deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centred learning
- Demonstrates exemplary teaching
- Demonstrates a proficient understanding of the BC curriculum
- Ability and desire to lead, to organize and to collaborate with others
- Excellent communication skills
- Embodies a growth mindset
- Experience working as part of a learning team, as well as leading change
- Commitment to and evidence of continued professional growth
