Job Summary
Instructional Leader for a girl-centered program at St. Margaret’s School (SMS) in Victoria, BC. This two-year term, 0.10 FTE, internal posting, supports the SMS Pedagogical Leadership Team by fostering achievement within curriculum areas, leading high-impact teaching practices, and collaborating with colleagues to design and implement initiatives. Responsibilities include overseeing the advisory program, promoting research-informed practices for working with girls, developing partnerships (e.g., Women in Tech), planning events like Educating Girls Symposium, modeling and guiding high-quality programming, facilitating professional learning communities, and contributing to annual plans and year targets within BC curriculum and IB Diploma Program context. Requirements include valid BC Teacher Certification, understanding of adolescent development and mental health, instructional leadership experience, evidence of collaboration and professional growth, and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered learning. The role focuses on girl-centered leadership and pedagogy across SMS’s K-12 spectrum, anchored in the school’s strategic plan and culture of achievement.
Required Qualifications
- Current and valid Teacher Certification through the Teacher Regulation Branch
- Strong understanding of adolescent development, mental health, and executive functioning (required)
- Experience in instructional leadership, coaching, or program coordination
- Proven ability to lead professional development and collaborate across teams
- Deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centred learning
- Background in counselling, educational psychology, or wellness education (asset but not required)
- Demonstrates exemplary teaching
- Demonstrates a proficient understanding of the BC curriculum
- Ability and desire to lead, to organize and to collaborate with others
- Excellent communication skills
- Embodies a growth mindset
- Experience working as part of a learning team, as well as leading change
- Commitment to and evidence of continued professional growth
