Job Summary
The Instructional Designer will support faculty and academic initiatives through design consultation, faculty development, and strategic use of instructional technologies. Collaborates with faculty and college stakeholders to design, improve, and maintain high-quality learning experiences across modalities with emphasis on accessibility and innovative teaching practices. Develops and facilitates professional development programs, provides guidance on instructional technologies, and supports institutional initiatives related to teaching and learning. Creates and delivers LMS training and support for faculty, staff, and other college stakeholders; partners with SMEs and the TLE team to develop instructional materials and resources using evidence-based design principles including Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Ensures accessibility compliance and inclusive design in materials, supports adoption of Open Educational Resources (OER) and Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) materials, and contributes to communications about faculty development opportunities. Participates in Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence operations and related committees, and performs related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in instructional design, education, instructional technology, or related field
- 2 years of teaching experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong background in effective teaching and instructional design methodologies including writing objectives, lesson planning, developing curriculum, evaluation and assessment, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Open Educational Resources (OER)
- Experience in integrating instructional technology into teaching and learning processes
- Experience with online or Web-supported learning through a Learning Management System
- Experience with designing and delivering presentations, workshops, and/or trainings
- Strong professionalism and confidentiality with all levels of staff
- Strong multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others
