Job Summary
Lead the implementation of IDEA and ensure legal compliance for special education services by collaborating with principals, teachers, and families. Monitor IEP development and fidelity, mediate conflicts regarding placements and behaviors, and participate in contentious IEP meetings. Provide coaching and professional development on research-based strategies to staff and administration while utilizing student outcome data to drive program improvement. Support district leadership in addressing corrective action plans and audit responses.
Required Qualifications
- Experience as a special education teacher
- Extensive knowledge of strategies, methodologies, philosophies, and curriculum for students to include Standard Course of Study, Occupational Course of Study, Extended Content Standards
- Knowledge of laws, state and federal (rules and regulations)
- Strong ability to communicate orally and in writing
- Ability to advance instructional practices to increase student achievement
- Master's Degree in Special Education, or related field
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience in special education
