Job Summary
The Mathematics/Science Instructional Coach designs, develops, implements, and evaluates the elementary school math and science curriculum and instructional techniques. Responsibilities include teaching and supervising math and science instruction, observing and collaborating with administrators and teachers to improve instruction, modeling effective strategies for classrooms, providing targeted feedback, collecting and analyzing math and science data to guide decisions, and coordinating support for identified students. The role involves co-planning, co-teaching, coaching teachers, supporting teachers of students with disabilities and English Learners, and delivering professional development through workshops. Experience with data-driven instruction, assessment development/implementation, and using trends in math and science to drive instruction is essential, as is the ability to foster CREW values (community, real-world learning, empathy/equity, and excellence). Length of contract is 210 days, with duties performed primarily in the school setting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Virginia Teaching License with Elementary Education endorsement
- teaching experience (5+ years preferred)
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree and/or Mathematics Specialist endorsement
- Virginia Teaching License with Elementary Education endorsement
- five years of teaching experience preferred
- ability to plan, organize, and deliver mathematics and science professional development for teachers, administrators, and other staff
- experience modeling effective teaching and instruction techniques for students with diverse learning needs
- data-driven instruction and evidence of growth in student learning
