Job Summary
Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities; support instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics; supervise students across the school day including lunchroom, bus, and playground; assist in assembling instructional materials, maintaining records, and assisting substitute teachers; engage in staff development and classroom management to support a welcoming, service-oriented environment.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or two years of study at an institution of higher learning
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
- Experience working with children
- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Provide instructional support under the direction of a certified teacher
- Prepare instructional materials and classroom displays
- Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
- Participate in staff development training programs
- Participate in faculty meetings and events
- Maintain professional communication with students, parents, community members, staff, and other professionals
- Use proper phone etiquette and reliable message routing
