Job Summary
Assist students with homework, classroom assignments, and computer skills while supervising conduct to maintain a proper learning atmosphere. Support the Instructor in carrying out IPP objectives and aid in developing academic, social, and cultural development for grades K through 12. Provide library assistance, organize programs and activities, and conduct field trips while compiling data on events and statistical research on attendance and incidents. Serve as an advocate between schools, organizations, parents, and youth to coordinate department activities and ensure compliance with safety codes. Obtain and reproduce registration materials, maintain records of educational activities, and assist in activities designed to increase self-esteem and cultural knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years of experience in the education field or related experience working with youth
- Basic Math and English composition skills
- Knowledge of methods of organizing a variety of recreational programs
- Knowledge of principles and practices of public/community relations
- Ability to enforce compliance with safety codes, rules and regulations in all department programs and activities
- Ability to gain cooperation through discussion and persuasion
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Must be reliable and able to work flexible hours, including evenings and some weekends
- Must have basic computer skills including Internet and word processing
- Must be able to tutor in wide variety of subjects
- Must be willing to attend training
- Possess a valid California Driver License
- comply with the requirements of the Tribes driving policy and insurance requirements
- Employment is contingent on pre-employment background and drug test results
- Additional testing will be given during the application process to confirm basic math and English composition skills competency
