Job Summary

Supervise and instruct students with disabilities across classrooms, cafeterias, playgrounds, and field trips while implementing academic and functional instructional programs. Model appropriate behaviors, support related services like occupational therapy, and assist with activities of daily living including toileting, feeding, and transferring students up to 50 pounds. Perform medical duties such as catheterization and assisted breathing devices as trained, maintain accurate records, and adapt classroom materials under teacher direction. Work Monday through Friday for 190 days, adhering to district safety regulations and confidentiality policies. Obtain and maintain certification for CPR, first aid, and non-violent crisis intervention.

Required Qualifications

  • Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 hours of college credits)
  • Possess an Associate's Degree or higher
  • Provide documentation of passing the Paraprofessional Exam
  • Must be willing to obtain and maintain certification requirements for non-violent crisis intervention, CPR, and first aid
  • Must be willing to apply knowledge related to the stages of child development/behavior
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to lift, move, and transfer students
  • Must be able to move students by wheelchairs
  • Must be able to handle possible exposure to bodily fluids
  • Must be able to perform daily personal close contact with students
  • Must be able to travel between schools, or between schools and district office
