Job Summary
Support teachers in coordinating instructional programs for special education students, including familiarity with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and implementation of behavioral intervention strategies. Provide in-class support while promoting student independence, assist with low- and high-tech assistive technology, and facilitate transitions between classes. Handle special health care needs such as personal hygiene, mobility assistance, feeding, and seizure control. Compile and file reports while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with federal and state laws. Participate in district staff development and complete specialized training as determined by a student's IEP. Work Monday through Friday, occasionally evenings and weekends, with a maximum of 40 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification
- Six documented semester hours of coursework in early childhood education
- Two years of work experience in an early childhood setting
Desired Qualifications
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Experience working with or assisting individuals with special needs
