Instructional Assistant - Special Education

Job Summary
Support special education and classroom teachers by reinforcing learning objectives, facilitating small group activities, and providing instructional support during online learning. Assist students in developing social-emotional skills and mastering classroom routines while maintaining a safe, supervised environment during lunch, recess, transitions, and bus loading/unloading. Collaborate with professionals to address IEP goals and accommodations, ensuring a positive, solution-focused demeanor and strict confidentiality. Maintain physical readiness for standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 lbs. This role serves Linkhorn Elementary School within the Lynchburg City Schools system.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited post-secondary institution or career technical facility; or an Associate's Degree; or successfully completed the ParaPro assessment
- Some experience in working with children
- Ability to lift 25 lbs
- Willingness to substitute or perform duties as requested
