Job Summary
Monitor and instruct special education students implementing Individual Education Plans while assisting with academic, daily living, and health care activities. Deliver classroom work and guided practice under teacher direction, collect data on academic and behavior goals, and implement positive behavior intervention plans for students displaying challenging behaviors. Perform physical interventions, transfers, tube feeding, and personal care tasks such as toileting and dressing for students with severe medical conditions. Maintain classroom equipment, manage student files, and facilitate safe peer interactions in resource rooms or self-contained settings.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or 60 college credit hours required at time of hire OR pass the ParaPro Test provided by the district free of charge
- Previous experience and record of effectiveness in similar roles
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, bend, and kneel frequently throughout the day
- Must be able to lift or assist students who have physical disabilities, including transferring students to and from wheelchairs, standing frames, or other equipment (commonly 25–50 lbs, but sometimes more)
- Regular and on-time attendance required
