Instructional Assistant - Special Education, Extended Content Support

Job Summary

Coordinate instructional programs for special education students by supporting teachers with IEP implementation, behavioral intervention plans, and classroom material preparation. Provide in-class assistance including personal hygiene, mobility support, and the use of assistive technology to promote student independence. Compile and file confidential reports while maintaining safety and adhering to federal and state regulations. Work Monday through Friday with occasional evenings or weekends, ensuring a conducive learning environment for students with diverse needs.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification
  • Six documented semester hours of coursework in early childhood education
  • Two years of work experience in an early childhood setting

Desired Qualifications

  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Experience working with or assisting individuals with special needs
