Job Summary
Support teachers in coordinating instructional programs for special education students, including familiarity with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and implementation of behavioral intervention strategies. Provide in-class support to promote student independence, assist with low- and high-tech assistive technology, and facilitate transitions between classes. Manage personal hygiene, mobility assistance, and adaptive equipment needs for students with severe disabilities while maintaining confidentiality of records. Compile reports, participate in staff development, and ensure a safe, healthful learning environment for all students.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification
- Six documented semester hours of coursework in early childhood education
- Two years of work experience in an early childhood setting
Desired Qualifications
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Experience working with or assisting individuals with special needs
