Job Summary
Support teachers in coordinating instructional programs for special education students by familiarizing yourself with Individual Education Plans (IEP) and assisting with behavioral intervention strategies. Plan, organize, and prepare necessary classroom materials while ensuring they are readily available according to lesson plans. Provide in-class support to promote student independence, assist with low- and high-tech assistive technology, and facilitate transitions between classes. Monitor and supervise student safety, address personal hygiene and mobility needs, and maintain confidentiality of all records. Participate in staff development and complete specialized training as required by the student's IEP.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification
- Six documented semester hours of coursework in early childhood education
- Two years of work experience in an early childhood setting
Desired Qualifications
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Experience working with or assisting individuals with special needs
