Job Summary
Provide support and assist teachers in coordinating instructional programs for special education students, including familiarity with Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Aids in planning, organizing, and preparing necessary materials while ensuring an encouraging, caring, and safe environment. Implements behavioral intervention plans and assists with low- and high-tech assistive technology to promote student independence. Coordinates student transitions between classes and provides direct personal care, mobility assistance, and behavioral support as needed. Compiles and maintains confidential reports and records in compliance with federal and state laws. Works Monday through Friday, occasionally evenings and weekends, with a maximum of 40 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification
- Six documented semester hours of coursework in early childhood education
- Two years of work experience in an early childhood setting
Desired Qualifications
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Experience working with or assisting individuals with special needs
