Job Summary
Instructional Assistant II (Special Ed IA) supports teachers by tutoring individuals or small groups of students with disabilities, reinforcing instructions, preparing lessons, administering tests, and assisting with IEP progress. Responsibilities include transporting students as needed, monitoring and reporting student behavior, handling routine clerical duties, operating classroom equipment, setting up work areas and displays, coordinating labs and field trips, ensuring health and safety, and providing emotional support and guidance to students. Strong knowledge of basic subjects, effective communication with students and families, and ability to follow policies and procedures are required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Two years of college study or an associate degree (or higher) or demonstrated ability in reading, writing, and mathematics as appropriate for instructional support
