Job Summary
Facilitate the educational process by assisting teachers in differentiated learning activities and instructing students in small group or one-on-one settings. Monitor and document individual student progress, while performing clerical tasks such as grading papers, data entry, and preparing teaching materials. Provide special support to students with disabilities, including organizational assistance and supervision during hall, lunch, or recess duties. Assist students in developing positive relationships and study skills, and coordinate weekly feedback reports for special education students. Maintain professional competence through district-provided in-service activities and attend staff meetings as required.
Required Qualifications
- Oregon Department of Education fingerprint clearance
- Valid First Aid/CPR-AED cards
- bloodborne pathogens training
- EpiPen training
- Genuine enjoyment of working with students in a school setting
- Outstanding communication skills—both oral and written—which are effective across a wide variety of audiences, including students, parents, and staff
- Respects workplace confidentiality and maintains professionalism
- Technical competencies, including general office machines, word processing, spreadsheets, email, and the like
- Either two years of full-time college coursework or the ability to pass a Paraeducator Assessment upon hire
- A moderate degree of physical stamina with occasional lifting of 10 to 50 pounds
- Ability to move freely to various locations within the classroom and other supervisory settings (cafeteria/playground)
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and bending
- Exposure to noise and activity in a school setting
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions
