Job Summary
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Instructional Assistant works as a paraprofessional under supervision of a BCBA and school leadership to implement student-specific behavior management and support services. Responsibilities include implementing behavior plans, assisting teachers with data collection on student goals, delivering programming to increase academic stamina and predetermined reinforcement during tasks, supporting self-regulation during group activities, implementing strategies to build SEL competencies during instruction, providing daily progress updates toward mastery of behavioral goals, delivering behavior-specific redirection when needed, supervising students during unstructured times, and collaborating with the behavior coach to ensure unified, comprehensive behavior programming. Proficiency with computers and common office tools, strong communication, collaboration, and ethical conduct are required; experience with Lynchburg City Schools policies is preferred. Requires reliable transportation for local travel.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited post-secondary institution or career technical facility; or an Associate’s Degree; or successfully completed the ParaPro assessment
- Agree to complete 40 hours of RBT Online training within 1 month of employment and pass the RBT certification exam to become certified after hire
