Job Summary
Instructional Assistant in PreK-3 to support kindergarten students by performing general instructional-related duties, preparing materials, and delivering instruction under teacher supervision in individual or small group settings. Responsibilities include duplicating materials, assisting with student instruction per teacher plans, maintaining records and correcting tests/homework when appropriate, and promoting understanding of the county's programs. Requires collaborating well with others, strong written/spoken language skills, basic computer use, and the ability to work with children in a classroom environment. Salary is based on experience and training and is a full-time position with benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Must meet minimum requirements for instructional support services personnel with 48 college credits OR a passing score on the Paraprofessional exam with a score of at least 455
- Demonstrates the ability to work cooperatively with others
- Articulate and accurate in the use of written and spoken language
- Has good human relations and communication skills
- Ability to use a computer
- Performs general instructional-related duties, including duplicating materials, preparing materials, and working with students to enrich or reinforce instruction
- Provides instruction to students in accordance with the teacher's plans and instructions in individual or small group settings
- Promotes goodwill, understanding, and acceptance of the county's programs and actions
- Works under the direct supervision of and in close proximity with a highly qualified teacher
