Job Summary
Assist students individually or in small groups with academic tasks, life skills, and social-emotional learning while adapting classroom materials to meet specific needs. Implement instructional strategies under teacher guidance and provide physical support for toileting, feeding, and mobility. Supervise students during absences, transitions, and field trips, and respond effectively to disruptive behaviors using positive reinforcement and approved strategies. Maintain accurate records of progress and interventions, prepare instructional materials, and communicate regularly with teachers, parents, and outside providers. Participate in team meetings to refine behavioral strategies and assist with assistive technologies as directed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
Desired Qualifications
- postsecondary coursework or training in education, special education, psychology, or child development
- Experience working with children, including students with disabilities or special education needs
- First Aid and CPR training
- Knowledge of basic instructional strategies and behavior support techniques
- Ability to assist students physically and provide individualized support
- Proficiency in basic computer applications
- experience with educational or adaptive technologies
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and effective in stressful situations or medical emergencies
