Job Summary
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with disabilities in a Special Education setting, assisting a Special Education Teacher within an Intensive Mental Health Program (IMHP). Duties include implementing IEP-based behavior management, supporting academic and social development, assisting with daily living skills, facilitating inclusion in general education activities, data tracking for IEP progress, and collaboration with educators. Requires paraprofessional qualifications, ability to meet ESSA requirements, and physical capability to assist students; training includes NCI de-escalation and ParaPro assessment as part of eligibility.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED is required
- An Associate's degree or higher, or at least sixty (60) semester hours preferred
- Must have at least an associate's degree or two years of college or passed the ParaPro Assessment
- Pass the Expanded Criminal History Check and Expanded Child Protection Index Check
- Ability to meet the requirements of a paraprofessional as outlined in ESSA
- Demonstrated ability to follow IEPs and adapt instructional strategies
- Education/Training: ParaPro assessment offered; testing details provided
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations
- Understanding of developmental, physical, and emotional behaviors of students with disabilities
- Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
- Flexibility and physical ability to assist students with mobility and personal care needs
