Job Summary
Assist teachers in planning instructional activities, preparing lessons, and maintaining a safe, orderly environment for high school and middle school students. Provide instructional reinforcement to individuals or small groups after literacy teachers deliver instruction, while organizing developmentally appropriate activities. Perform related duties as assigned by the principal, including regular on-time attendance and providing substitute coverage as needed. This role requires ordinary ambulatory skills and the ability to manipulate light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. The position is non-exempt, paid at the UA3, Grade G03–G07 salary scale, and lasts for 10 months.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Experience working with children
- Ability to work in an instructional support role with high school/ middle school aged children
- Excellent human relations skills
- Excellent organizational and communications
- Knowledge of developmental stages of children
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to plan developmentally appropriate activities as directed by the literacy teacher
- Ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds
- Good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp
- Visual acuity to use a keyboard
- Ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear
