Job Summary
Instructional Assistant II for ECSE provides supervision and instruction to special needs students under a certified special education teacher. Responsibilities include adapting activities and materials, assisting students with disabilities on/off the bus and during meals, collaborating with teachers to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives, delivering instructional support for individuals or small groups, implementing behavior plans, teaching core skills (math, reading, science, daily living skills), maintaining materials and student records, supervising students to ensure a safe learning environment, and fulfilling training requirements related to behavior management for students with autism spectrum disorders. The role is a 10-month support position that reports to the Special Education Teacher and/or School-based Administrator, with compensation hourly from $20.10 to $24.73 and an online training opportunity provided for behavior management. Training and clearances including Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance and TB skin test are required; location is Alexandria, VA.
Required Qualifications
- Education: 48 college credits or an AA degree
- CPR and First Aid Certification strongly desired, if not held must obtain within 6 months
- Experience: Job-related education/experience as required
- Essential Functions alignment with IEP and instruction
- Ability to adapt activities and support students with disabilities
- Record keeping and clerical support
