Job Summary
Assist teachers in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning educational environment for students in the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) and Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) programs under direct supervision of a Highly Qualified Teacher. Support instructional delivery to ensure students can fully utilize available resources while managing intense behaviors. Complete required training within six months, including Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, First Aid, medication administration, and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), with annual renewals for CPR and First Aid. Maintain current CPI certification on a regular basis. Meet all mandated federal and state health requirements and successfully complete the Florida Care Provider Level II background screening. Begin work at Thomas E. Weightman Middle School in Wesley Chapel, FL, for an 18-day school year.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited institution in the field of Education, or related field
- 60 semester hours of college/university level course work from an accredited institution
- Obtain qualifying score to pass the ParaPro Assessment
- Satisfactory completion of Pediatric First Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training
- Satisfactory completion of First Aid training
- Satisfactory completion of Medication administration training
- Satisfactory completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training
- CPR and First Aid training completed every two years
- CPI training kept current and renewed on a regular basis
- Satisfactory completion of any required trainings
- Meeting all mandated federal and state health requirements
- Passing Level II background screening
