Job Summary
Support students with disabilities (ages 2-22) to meet IEP goals and access the general education curriculum by reinforcing teacher-introduced material, including educational technology. Assist with physical tasks such as dressing, toileting, feeding, and mobility, while accompanying students to buses, field trips, and lunch under teacher direction. Implement individual behavior plans and foster an environment of mutual respect and independence. Perform requested clerical duties and maintain confidential student information. Adhere to building procedures for punctuality and dress codes, and attend required staff development. This role reports to a classroom teacher and requires a high school diploma or GED.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Working knowledge of computer applications
- Ability to work with students
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to work to meet a deadline
- Must be able to stand
