Job Summary
Support the instructional program for exceptional children by collaborating with classroom teachers to work with small groups, assist identified students with intervention/enrichment, and maintain related records. Assist individual or small groups across curricular areas to build background knowledge and reinforce concepts; conduct assessments; organize and ready instructional materials; report student progress to teachers; supervise students during class, lunch, recess, and field trips; participate in meetings and professional development; and ensure confidentiality while aligning with IEP goals and school policies.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent
- Experience in an educational environment (substitute teaching, tutoring, etc.)
- Ability to implement academic and behavioral interventions
- Organize and prepare instructional materials
- Maintain manual and electronic files and records
- Collaborate with classroom teachers regarding student progress
- Conduct assessments under supervision
- Support students with special needs and IEP goals
- Supervise students in class, between classes, during lunch and recess, and on field trips
- Understand and adhere to policies and procedures
- Observe confidentiality and safeguard student information
