Job Summary
Instructional Assistant/Bus Driver provides support to the teacher in the instruction of students and operates school buses to transport children on established routes. Responsibilities include giving group instruction, providing individualized instruction, creating instructional visuals, maintaining student discipline and safety, reporting student progress to the teacher, recording health data, and ensuring bus safety and cleanliness. Requires working knowledge of effective methods for working with children, classroom materials, and transportation regulations, along with the ability to follow teacher instructions and interact professionally with parents and school personnel.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Associate’s Degree, or Completion of 48 semester hours of college credits, or Successful completion of a series of Work Keys Tests plus 96 contact hours of appropriate staff development
- Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record
- CDL License with passenger school bus endorsement and current Bus Drivers Pocket Card
